Zainab Mansaray

Zainab Mansaray came into the world on March 10th, 2010, in the southern town of Yamandu, situated forty kilometers away from the regional city of Bo, Sierra Leone. Unfortunately, she was born with a disability and tragically lost her parents at a tender age. Now at thirteen years old and attending class 3 in a community school, Zainab faces daily struggles to access her education.

Living with her aging grandmother, Zainab receives limited care as her grandma’s capabilities are diminished with age. Consequently, members of the community often have to assist Zainab in making her way to school. The journey is arduous and time-consuming, taking her over an hour or two to reach school. Zainab endures a combination of walking, waiting for help, and even falling to the ground several times due to her disability, resulting in painful sores covering her body.

Despite these overwhelming challenges, Zainab possesses an unwavering desire to attend school and obtain an education. Her dream is not only to better herself but also to make valuable contributions to her community, avoiding becoming a burden on them. She seeks assistance to realize her educational aspirations, and in turn, wishes to give back to the community for their selfless support in getting her to school every day.

To achieve her goals, Zainab urgently requires a power wheelchair to enhance her mobility and independence. Additionally, she needs proper medical attention to treat the numerous wounds she has accumulated due to her difficult journey to school. Support for her education is also crucial, enabling her to access learning materials and other necessities.

With the help and support she needs; Zainab is determined to overcome her challenges and embrace education as a means to uplift herself and positively impact her community.
